Can a theatre practise sustainability? Yes, with an experienced partner at its side. The opportunities to implement environmentally friendly measures in a theatre are plentiful. WALA Heilmittel GmbH assists the Theaterhaus Stuttgart with its sustainability projects. The sustainability principle is to be gradually realised as a cross-sectional task throughout the theatre.

Since the start of the partnership the Theaterhaus Stuttgart has printed over two million print products on FSC-certified paper. When designing the set for the play “Was heißt hier Liebe?” the set was converted almost entirely to LED lighting. The outcome: a saving of over two million watts in just one year. Forthcoming projects:

• The use of GOTS-certified textiles in the costume department
• Exclusive use of green electricity and gas
• Introduction of paper bags to replace plastic ones
